Every Prime Big Deal Days, the internet argues about TVs and air fryers. Meanwhile some of the best offers never touch a cardboard box: free months of Kindle Unlimited, audiobooks for 99 cents, four months of Amazon Music on the house. No shipping, no returns, no standing at the door.
Prime Big Deal Days runs October 6 and 7, starting at 12:01 a.m. PT Tuesday, and the digital offers are already live. This guide covers the whole digital side: what's free, what's discounted, what each deal costs when the trial ends, and what to read, watch and play with your free months. Fun timing note: Stephen King's Carrie hits Prime Video on October 7, day two of the sale.
One rule before you click anything. A free trial is a loan, and the bill shows up later.
48 hours of deals. Amazon's “Today's Big Deals” drop at midnight, 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. PT.
Most of this is live already, so you don't have to wait for midnight. One thing first: you need Prime for nearly all of it. That's $14.99 a month or $139 a year, with a 30-day free trial if you're eligible. Students and 18-to-24-year-olds get six months free, then $7.49 a month. Start or check your Prime membership here.
The dates are tighter than the hype. Kindle Unlimited and Audible offers end October 7, and Amazon Music's runs through October 8, according to Yahoo's streaming roundup. Filter the board by what you actually do with your free time.

Take all three big trials and you skip about $116 of list price: $35.97 on Kindle Unlimited, $32 on Audible, $47.96 on Amazon Music Unlimited. That's real money, and nobody should look down on taking it.
It's also three subscriptions that start billing you $32.97 a month if you do nothing. That's $395.64 a year for stuff you never decided to buy. Amazon doesn't need you to love these services. It needs the cancel reminder to lose to a regular Tuesday.
Pick what you'd really use, set your start date, and see the cancel-by dates and the next six months of bills both ways.
Two overlaps worth catching. Amazon says Music Unlimited includes one Audible audiobook a month, and Kindle Unlimited carries audiobooks too. If you take the Music deal, you may not need the Audible one. Pick the app you'll actually open on a Wednesday.
Here's Amazon's smartest move this week, and it's done in plain sight. The book deals line up with the Prime Video calendar. Stephen King's three-novel box set that includes Carrie is 60% off, and Mike Flanagan's Carrie series premieres on Prime Video October 7, day two of the sale. Jack Carr's The Terminal List boxed set is 60% off ahead of season 2 on October 21. The Love Hypothesis is 60% off and already a Prime Video film. Verity is 40% off with an Amazon MGM Studios movie behind it.
One catch. Amazon's list doesn't say which format each discount covers, and box sets are usually print. If you want a Kindle copy, check the format before you tap, and use the price history on the product page (Amazon says it goes back 365 days) to see if the sale price is real.

Get the book dealIf you'd rather borrow than buy, Kindle Unlimited's three free months are Amazon's pitch for Dungeon Crawler Carl and Rebecca Yarros's Empyrean series. Prime members also get a free First Reads pick every month, with a bonus short read this October. Those books stay in your library once you add them, so there's no cancel date to track.
Watch. Prime Video is already part of your membership, and October is stacked with Prime Originals: Carrie on the 7th, the film Love of Your Life on the 14th, Stanley Tucci's heist movie Masterplan on the 16th, and The Terminal List season 2 on the 21st.
For more, the new five-service bundle (AMC+, BritBox, MGM+, PBS Masterpiece and Starz) is $29.99 a month with a seven-day trial, which Yahoo's math puts $18.96 a month under buying them separately. Starz is where the Power universe lives, created by Courtney A. Kemp and executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson. Lena Waithe's The Chi streams on Paramount+. Amazon hasn't posted October's channel add-on prices, so check Tuesday morning before paying full price.
Listen. If you only take one audio deal, take Music Unlimited. Four free months covers 100 million songs plus an Audible audiobook each month, and the Audible-only deal can't say that. Audible's edge is the plain $0.99 price, which makes it the cheapest mistake of the big three if you forget to cancel.
Play. Prime Gaming is now Amazon Luna, and the free-games drop is still running. Once you claim a game it's yours without a subscription, so claim before the date on the listing. October's batch includes Botany Manor and Drop Duchy through the 14th.
Everyone's free time looks different, and so does everyone's relationship with a cancel button. Answer honestly.
Sales run on urgency, so here's the order that keeps you from buying wrong. Check things off as you go.
If you already pay for Audible or Kindle Unlimited, the headline offers probably aren't for you, since they're aimed at new or returning subscribers. If you have Prime mostly for shipping, you already get Prime Video, Luna and First Reads at no extra cost. And if you've ever paid for a gym you never visited, set the reminder before you press start.
Amazon has never once forgotten a renewal date. Don't let it be the only one who remembers.
